Irish Shipping Ltd. was established in 1941 with the intention of building up a merchant fleet to supply Eire during the Second World War. By 1943, fifteen somewhat aged vessels had been acquired, one of which was the 3,192 gross ton lrish Larch. Acquired from Palestinian owners in 1941, she had been built in 1903 as Tregothnan for Hain of St Ives. Sold to Turkish owners in 1949, she was finally broken up at Trieste in 1961.
