Photograph captioned 'Dowlais Ironworks. The works began in 1759, reaching a pinnacle of great productive achievement by 1840 when it employed 10,000 people and was known as the biggest in the world. The site of the original works has been cleared apart from the remains of an isolated chimney stack, stone arches, retaining walls and early coke ovens'. Mounted on card. Made for the exhibition RECORDING WALES 3 in 1970/1971.
