Bronze Age Gold from Wales
Great Western Railway locomotive, photograph
G.W.R. locomotive No.356, formerly T.V.R. Class A, no.123 (North British Locomotive Co, 21160 of 1915) standing at the southern end of the south-bound platform of Penarth Station. View is looking north east showing locomotive and railway carriages, with Glendale House prominent in the background, and the goods yard weighbridge office visible right of the tree. The brake / luggage carriage closest to the locomotive is a six wheeler still in T.V.R. livery (its number possibly reads ‘278’ which was withdrawn November 1926) which suggests a date shortly after the 1922 grouping, so the photograph is probably mid 1920s.
