Bronze Age Gold from Wales

September Morning: Port of Fécamp

The town of Fécamp fills only a narrow section of the canvas. Its rectangular church tower balances against the tall masts of the sailing ships in the harbour. The rest of the painting is devoted to portraying the light and atmospheric effects in the sky and reflecting waters. Similar effects are visible in paintings by Claude Monet who was Boudin's pupil.
