Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Earthenware (terra sigillata) bowl, wheel thrown, concave foot, very thick walls curving gently outwards, smooth rounded rim, almost concial well. Decorated with terra sigillata slips giving a cloudy marbled effect: buff and dark brown on centre of underside, merging into mid brown and orange from the middle of the exterior to inside rim, well coated with gold leaf. Black paint sprayed on opposite sides of rim giving rough texture, and some dripping. Incised narrow throwing lines, strongest on underside and inside rim, and visible under gold leaf. Polished surface for glaze.
