Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Letter

A letter written on the 8th February 1968 by Sir Michael Duff of the Vaynol to Mr W.H. Roberts thanking him for his services to the estate. Mr Roberts started work in the Dinorwig Quarries in 1928 and worked for the Vaynol estate until 1968. After the war years he worked on the Port Dinorwic slate quay as a slate dresser and finally as a guard on the Pen Scoins to Gilfach Ddu railway. He was the last guard on the train and therefore the last man to travel on the line during its final journey in 1961.
