'The TINTORETTO, in 'Dazzle' scheme, being attacked by enemy submarines, Dec. 8th 1915. 'Dazzle' camouflage was invented by the artist Norman Wilkinson, the idea being that patches of strong colour would distort the form of the vessel making it less likely to be spotted by enemy submarines.
