S.S. PARITA II (2051gt). Great Lakes type vessel built 1922 by Fraser, Brace Ltd., Three Rivers, Quebec, as FRANK A. AUGSBURY for George Hall Coal & Shipping Corp., Canada. 1927 – Sold to Canada Steamship Lines Ltd, Canada, and renamed GRANBY. 1945 – Assigned to UK Ministry of Transport (same name). 1948 – Sold to Cia Naviera Parita SA, Panama, and renamed PARITA 2. 1951 – Sold to Lloyd Mediterraneo SpA di Nav., Italy, and renamed VALBRUNA. Rebuilt to 1986gt. 1952 – Sold to Hall Corporation of Canada Ltd., and rebuilt to 2057gt. Renamed LAWRENCECLIFFE HALL under the Canadian flag. 1955 – Sold to Federal Commerce & Navigation Co Ltd., Canada (Watts, Watts & Co Ltd, managers), and renamed FEDERAL EXPLORER. 1960 – Sold to Ithaka Shipping Co., of the British West Indies (managed by J.Glikis, Greece), and renamed ITHAKA. She ran aground at Rankin Inlet, 10 miles east of Churchill, Ontario on 14 September 1960, after she lost her rudder in a gale, and anchors failed to hold, and became a total loss.
