Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Maria Morigia Reina

Born and trained in Milan, Appiani became the leading portrait painter in Lombardy after the French invasion of 1795. His patrons included numerous members of the pro-French faction, including the eminent lawyer and member of the Cisalpine Republic's legislative council, Francesco Reina (1770-1825). This portrait of Reina's wife probably dates from 1795-1800.
