Black and white photograph showing colliers at work underground at a Durham colliery. The trousers cut off at the knee (on the right) and the clog footwear were seldom seen outside the Durham coalfield. The safety lamp on the floor is an unbonnetted Clanny.

This photograph is in the William Wickham Collection (PC2010.1227) where it's location is recorded as being Wigan, Lancashire.
