S.S. DROMORE CASTLE (5242gt). Laid down as WAR POPLAR but completed in 1919 as DROMORE CASTLE by Caird & Company, Greenock, for Union Castle Mail Steamship Co., London. She was mined and sunk with no loss of life on 12th December 1941, twenty miles SSE of the River Humber while en route in ballast from London to Leith. (clydesite.co.uk)
