Llandybie lime works, slide

Railway siding to Cilyrychen lime kilns near Llandebie, looking north east along curve between Llanelly Railway (behind camera) and level crossing over A483 (out of sight to the left). South end of Gothick block built by R.K. Penson is visible in background. This siding had been British Railways owned and worked until 1966 when it was transferred to lime Firms Ltd. who from then until the siding closed in 1971 worked it with their own shunting locomotive. Photo taken in summer 1971 probably after the cessation of traffic by June of that year to judge from the absence of railway wagons and the grass starting to grow over the rails.
