Bronze Age Gold from Wales
Blaenau Ffestiniog
PRENDERGAST, Peter (1946-2007)
Blaenau Ffestiniog is a centre of the north Wales slate industry - the town is surrounded by a man-made landscape of quarried slate-tips. Prendergast’s painting was made at a time when the slate industry was already in decline, but the work’s expressive brushwork captures both the power of the landscape and its notoriously changeable weather.
