The Norman port

ISABEY, Eugène (1804-1886)

The son of a celebrated miniaturist, Isabey worked principally as a painter and lithographer of seascapes and coastal views in Normandy and Brittany. He was influenced by Richard Parkes Bonington and was a friend of Eugène Delacroix; Eugène Boudin was one of his students. Isabey exhibited at the Salon from 1824 and received the Légion d’honneur in 1832.
