S.S. BRETWALDA, glass negative

ss BRETWALDA (4906 gt) : Built 1939 by J.L.Thompson & Sons, Sunderland for Hall Bros of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. She was sunk by German U-boat U-563 on the 18th of December 1942 with the loss of one of the gunners. The remaining ship's compliment (master, 39 crew and 15 gunners) were picked up by ORP KRAKOWIAK and landed at Milford Haven on 22 December.
