Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Cambrian Colliery, photograph

Miners and surface workers at the pithead, Cambrian Colliery. Note the German Infantryman's type of hat worn by the miners of this period. All the lamps are oil lamps. The traditional tin water jack can be seen in front of the kneeling miners. The two women were probably screen or haulage hands. The headframe is wooden except for a steel stay on the left-hand side.
