Pyramus John (1905-1913)
JOHN, Augustus (1878-1961)
Pyramus (1905-13) was the eldest child of Augustus and Dorelia John. Born in a caravan on Dartmoor, he died of meningitis a few days after the birth of his sister Poppet. This posthumous portrait dates from around 1914 and was based upon an earlier drawing also purchased by Gwendoline Davies in 1916.
