Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Ynyscedwyn ironworks, slide

Ynyscedwyn Ironworks, showing blast furnace charging bank retaining wall from north west. The dip in the parapet wall right of centre was to accommodate the charging bridge for two free-standing blast furnaces aligned north west to south east. The arches in the base of the wall are too large to have been tapping arches of blast furnaces, so the wall is unlikely to have been a row of older masonry furnaces re-used as a charging bank. In the foreground is a single-flue Cornish boiler.
