Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Post-Medieval silver seal die

The king on horseback, galloping to the left; design as his great seal (No. R 89), but the feathers and motto of the Prince of Wales in the exergue instead of the date.

The matrix bears projections designed to fit apertures attached to the reverse. It is inscribed on exterior: T.WYON.FECIT. As the courts of Great Session were abolished in 1830 this seal was one of the last of it's class to be engraved.
