Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Sir William Goscombe John (1860-1952)

ROILOS, George (fl. 1900-1910)

Roilos was a Greek artist working in England during the early part of this century. This portrait shows the sculptor in his studio working on the Coldstream Guards South African War Memorial for St Paul's Cathedral. Goscombe John's daughter, in 1953, described it as the 'most really sympathetic' likeness of her father, other than the portrait painted by Sir Luke Fildes.
