Ice-cream pail, cover and stand
Ice cream pail, bone china, on a square stand with four round feet, one at each corner, the sides of the stand modelled with overlapping acanthus leaves, a raised circular upper rim to the stand into which the ice cream pail slots, the ice cream pail with cylindrical sides and flaring lip-rim moulded with scrolling leaves, to either side of the body twin vertical handles moulded with scrolling foliage and divided into two prongs at the upper terminal, round cover with short cylindrical sides and domed top modelled with a raised acanthus leaf pattern, to the centre of the cover a short raised cylindrical plinth on which stands a finial modelled in the form of a bear; the ice cream pail decorated with to either side of the exterior body a large bouquet of naturalistically painted garden flowers in polychrome enamels, the sides between the two bouquets of flowers decorated in gilt with stylized foliate sprays and motifs, a wide gilt band runs around the middle of the exterior sides forming an arch over the bouquets of flowers, the stand, handles and lip-rim picked out in gilt, the top of the plinth on the cover decorated with a spray of naturalistically painted garden flowers in polychrome enamels, the sides of the cover decorated in gilt with stylized flower heads, foliate sprays and scrolls, gilt bands around the top of the cover and the sides of the plinth, the moulded acanthus leaf pattern picked out in gilt, the bear finial covered in gilt.
