Seal impression: Ely Episcopal
The bishop standing on a carved corbel within a niche formed by side shafts (of which this is an early example) and a crocketed canopy; to either side, a sunken panel contains the crowned head of St.Ethelreda. In the diapered field, above the side panels are, dext. W (for Wiliiam), and, sin. III (being the third bishop of the see to ber this Christian name). In base, in trefoiled niche, a shield: three crowns, two and one, ELY.
