Seal impression: Capitular seal
An elevation of the cathedral depicting the martyrdom of St. Thomas Beckett: the kneeling Archbishop hemmed in by attacking knights, two with raised sword. Immediately above, within an oval compartment, the bust of a tonsured monk. In the tower above, two angels bear the soul of the martyr on a sheet to a visible Christ. The Saviour having a crown on his breast (ready to reward St. Thomas) between the letters: A and O[mega]. At either end of the elevation two tall arches within which : dext. two knight, each with shield and raised sword; sin. two monks of the community. Above each arch, an angel in an attitude of expectancy. Above the roof of the Cathedral to either side of the tower, an angel holding a crown. The legend in rhyming hexameter verses, refers to the saint.
