Sampler
LINEN, embroidered with coloured silks in cross stitch. Divided into two horizontal compartments by a narrow stripe: in the first, in two rows, are letters of the alphabet in Roman capitals and the date 1843; the second contains Gothic letters of the alphabet to x, the date “anno 1843", a peacock and other birds, and, within a field, a man with a ?spade, dog on lead and three sheep.
The last design also occurs on another sampler (accession No: 20.254.36)
