Dillwyn & Co., Cambrian Pottery (1811 - 1817 and 1824 - 1850)
Jug, inverted pear shaped body, cylindrical neck. Plain C shaped handle. Transfer printed in underglaze blue. Vignettes on body: Britannia seated on chariot in front of lion, with spear and shield and with the French flag under her feet; on opposite side a winged figure of Victory clasping a palm and holding out a laurel wreath; under spout a portrait bust of Wellington in military uniform and set within a demi-wreath of leaves and berries (laurel?). On neck interior and exterior two pairs of crossed flags on opposite sides bearing the names of Wellington's Peninsula War victories under loops of leaves and berries. Spray of leaves and berrieson handle. Glaze chipped on Wellington's hair.
