Dredger ABERAVON, negative
Handing over of the dredger ABERAVON. Raising the British Docks Board house flag is Captain Albert Nicholls, the vessel's master. Looking on from left to right are J. Conn (Managing Director of Ferguson Bros., the shipbuilders), T.S. Roberts (Chief Docks Manager at South Wales Ports) and E.R. Radway (Chief Docks Engineer at South Wales Ports).
2156gt. Completed at a cost of £700,000 in June 1969 by Ferguson Brothers Ltd. of Port Glasgow. She was the largest grab dredger to be built in the United Kingdom and operated mainly in maintenance dredging off the deep water tidal harbour at Port Talbot.
