Victory Medal
Victory medal instituted in 1919 to commemorate victory of the Allies over the Central Powers. Brass medal (ribbon missing). Obverse depicts winged Victory with left arm extended and right hand holding a wreath. Reverse inscribed ‘THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILISATION 1914-1919’ surrounded by a wreath.
Sent to parents (William and Hannah Morris of Handel House, Newbridge) of Petty Officer Bernard Morris, killed in action on 23 April 1917, aged 22, while serving in the Drake Battalion RND. He is commemorated on the Newbridge War Memorial.
