Roman copper alloy Polden Hill brooch
The brooch is in very poor condition. There are large, lightly curved side wings to protect the extant sixteen coil spring but there is no longer any evidence of the pierced disc terminals to support the axial bar of the spring which is now secured only by the rearward chord flap. The narrow tapering bow has the humped head characteristic of the local product. It is broken and abraded and the catchplate is lost.
