Upper Palaeolithic flint utilized blade
A large retouched blade fragment. There is a possibility that this may be of more recent date, but its width of 29.2 mm is far wider than would be expected, or has been observed, for local early Mesolithic tools. On balance it is therefore more probably Late Upper Palaeolithic rather than Mesolithic in date. This blade fragment has marginal retouch running along one length which forms a steep, abrupt backing to the tool. The other length is unmodified. It is a fully patinated mid-section blade fragment. The distal end of the blade has a clean break whereas that at the proximal end is an angled snap fracture.
