Roman silver thumb ring
Scarf-jointed and D-sectioned. The shoulders of the ring are decorated with silver wire which is wrapped around and soldered to the hoop; three strands continue around the bezel to hide the scarf-joint. On either side of the bezel is a dome-headed silver stud, around which the ends of the wire are wrapped. The bezel itself is decorated with six braids, one now missing, forming a herring-bone pattern. Each braid is made up of two strands of thin silver wire twisted together, and the end of each is secured to one of the studs.
