Reclining armchair
Back panel of canework with carved stiles having scalloped outer edges. Crest has central tulip motif flanked with rosettes and foliage. Similar decoration (inverted) below back panel. The uprights are plain and hinged at level of seat to allow to fall back; they are hooked to arms of chair. Arms have grooves which are concealed by capping and have scroll terminals which are holed underneath (? for rope to adjust portion of back). Arms have additional upright supports at back. Seat originally caned now canvas upholstered and webbed. Front legs turned, chamfered and with scrolled feet. Rear legs square. Two side stretchers joined by a middle stretcher, all turned. Front and back stretchers plain. Hinged to front seat rail is a winged rectangular framed foot rest with plain panel fixed to back.
