Recordiad sain / Audio recording: Antonio Di Giacomo
Oral history recording with Antonio Di Giacomo. Recorded as part of the Italian Memories in Wales project (2008-10), delivered by ACLI-ENAIP and funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
00:00:18 Antonio talks about women doing washing at a small fountain/reservoir where men had placed stones and a makeshift a washboard. They would spend the day there, by the evening the clothes would be dry, they would be gathered and carried on their heads on the journey back to the village. The mother always did the cooking whilst other girls did other chores in the house. He goes on to talk about his step grandmother and grandfather who would give a little wine to the children; the culture was for children to drink a little wine, he has also taught this to his children.
