Linen sampler with woollen embroidery. Made by Catherine Williams while a pupil at Llanddeiniolen School, north-west Wales. Date unknown.
Embroidery sampler: wool cross stitch on cotton canvas; birds, hearts and stylised floral motifs, blue and red border of stylised flowers. Text: 'Catherine Williams her Work Aged 10 Llanddeiniolen School' in red wool. Upper, lower and right side edges: stitched turnback, left edge: unfinished; tabby weave of canvas ground fabric: warps and wefts pushed together in pairs, resulting in large and small interstices.
