Oval sugar bowl, greyish blue hard-paste porcelain with a slight brownish translucency, standing on a moulded foot, thickly potted sides swelling to the shoulders, moulded mask and ring handle at each end; oval domed cover with an oval facetted pyramidal knop; decorated with an underglaze blue ground, reserved with red and yellow peonies amid scrolling realistically painted foliage, edged with gilding and gilt sprays; handles, borders and knop also gilded
