Jug, pearlware, standing on a flattened-off foot-rim, bulbous body, cylindrical neck, plain beak spout the top of which has broken off, grooved loop handle; transfer-printed in brown with to one side of the body a small scene in a circular panel showing the head and shoulders of a male figure in naval uniform in front of a number of sailing ships on an expanse of sea, around the scene is printed the inscription "ENGLAND EXPECTS EVERY MAN WILL DO HIS DUTY / ADML L NELSON", to the other side of the body is printed a ship under sail on an expanse of sea with around it the inscription "OFF TRAFALGAR OCTR 21 1805 / VICTORY", both scenes surrounded by flowers and foliage, border to the exterior lip-rim and spout of foliate scrolls and flower heads interspersed with lattice-work and diaper patterns, border to the interior lip-tim and spout of flower heads on a brown ground, an orange-brown edge to the lip-rim, a cell pattern border to the handle.
