Nantgarw China Works (1813 - 1822)
Plate, soft-paste porcelain, slightly yellow tinged, standing on a tapering foot rim, spreading sides; the rim moulded with six large and six small lobes, moulded with foliate c-scrolls and tied ribbons; the centre painted with an imari style flower with a 'Japan stripe' pattern radiating out, forming six panels, three puce and three iron red, interspersed with panels containing stylised flower sprigs in red, yellow, blue and green, all contained within a scrolled cartouche; the rim painted with floral sprigs and insects in blue, red and green, chocolate banding to outer rim.
