Cup and saucer

Chelsea Porcelain Factory

Cup, soft-paste porcelain, standing on a straight-sided foot-rim, cylindrical sides curving inwards towards the base and flaring out slightly at the lip-rim, elaborate pierced loop handle with moulded foliage spreading onto the body from the upper terminal; delicately painted in polychrome enamels with to the exterior sides of the cup swags of flowers and foliage which hang down from a gilt scroll edged pink and red diaper pattern highlighted with gilt dots, a gilt band around the middle of the foot-rim and around the lip-rim, the handle and the moulded foot-rim picked out in gilt. Saucer, soft-paste porcelain, circular shape with rounded foot-rim and curving sides flaring slightly at the rim; delicately painted in polychrome enamels in the same manner as on the cup with swags of flowers and foliage spreading down towards the centre of the well from a gilt scroll edged pink and red diaper pattern border to the rim highlighted with gilt dots, a gilt edge to the rim.
