Cup and saucer
Pollard, William (1803 - 1854)
Cup and saucer, bone china with whitish translucency, Etruscan shape, the cup with a rounded foot ring, the sides waisted, convex at the bottom, the upper part concave, plain rim, sharply angular handle, the saucer with tapering foot ring, curved sides and everted rim, a raised ridge round the centre; decorated with pattern 3862, an overglaze green enamel border with gilt diaper alternating with yellow panels with gilt anthemion and scrolls, gilt trailing leaves inside this border, in the centre a pink briar rose with other wild flowers, gilt scrolls and tendrils round the outside of the cup, gilt lines round the well and rim, the waist and foot of the cup, outside of the handle gilded.
