Dillwyn & Co., Cambrian Pottery (1811 - 1817 and 1824 - 1850)
Tazza or kylix, earthenware, in the shape of an ancient Greek kylix, standing on a short pedestal with spreading foot, the main body plate-shaped with gently curving spreading sides, plain horizontal loop handles to either side; the decoration reserved against a black enamel ground, so that the red earthenware body is revealed, this then transfer-printed in black with to the centre of the well a standing male figure clad in a classical tunic and cloak, leaning on a staff and with a wreath around his head, around the edge of the well a double border of a palmette pattern and a tongue pattern.
