SEAHORSE, photograph of technical drawing
Body plan and constructional details of the Tenby Lugger SEAHORSE. Three smaller drawings stapled to the photograph.
The lugger SEAHORSE M.170 was built in Tenby c.1886 by James Newt for Robert Hooper. Such a vessel had a length overall of up to 24ft, very few exceeded that length. Boats of this type were used for line fishing and oyster dredging and many were built locally. They were certainly in use very eary in the 19th century and some, mostly motorised, continued fishing until well into the 20th century.
