Muffin-dish
Pardoe, Thomas (1770-1823)
Muffin dish and cover, greyish-blue hard-paste porcelain with a slight brownish translucency, circular dish standing on a shallow foot rim, bowl-shaped with sides curving to a plain everted rim, shallow domed cover with a collared bead knop; both dish and cover are decorated with an underglaze blue ground reserved with two red peonies and with a red and yellow flower amid realistically painted foliage, the edges lined in gold, and with gilt sprays of leaves, narrow gilt band at rims, upper part of knop only is gilded.
