Iron Age / Roman shield
Badly corroded (much more so than the one under 63.419/5) pelta-shaped plaque for the ornamentation of a shield (probably the same shield from which the shield boss fragments under 63.419/1 & 2 derive) which, together with plaque 63.419/5, was cut from a disc 420mm in diameter. Very faint traces of decoration in the same style as the /5 plaque.

Site Name: Tal-y-llyn, Gwynedd
Notes: Found half-buried in a cavity under a large boulder between a footpath and the west side of the ravine of the Nant Cader at 800 feet above O.D. on the slopes of Cadair Idris near Tal-y-llyn.
