Roman pottery lamp
Imperfect oil lamp is 'Ephesus' type but probably not from Ephesus due to the lack of mica in the fabric which is common feature in Ephesus pottery. This is a mould made lamp, nozzle is missing. The filling hole area is flat with a raised rim around the filling hole itself, and 3 holes around the edge as the filling hole one pierced, all this is surrounded by a substantial collar applied at the edge of the flat surface. The shoulder is decorated with circles and dots repeating all around it. The base is flat and slightly concave handle is left but was applied after the mould. Lamp has a light silvery/grey slip all over.
