Teapot and cover
Teapot, red earthenware, standing on a short cylindrical foot-rim, bulbous lower body tapering inwards towards the shoulder, short cylindrical neck, short curving spout with metal tip, scrolled loop handle, to the shoulder of the handle a metal flowerhead to which the cover is joined by a slender metal chain, the cover, metal, domed with a dentilled rim, several narrow bands of beading around the sides, to the top of the cover a finial in the form of a bunch of grapes enclosed by vine leaves, moulded leaves to the top of the cover around the finial; the teapot covered all over with a brown glaze, this then decorated in silver, which is now very worn, with to one side of the exterior body a Chinese-style hunting scene showing figures with weapons and dogs, and to the other side a Chinese-style garden scene showing figures seated around a table, a border of elaborate foliate scrolls around the shoulder, a pattern of stylized leaves to the handle.
