Sucrier with cover
Baxter, Thomas (junior) (1782 - 1821)
Sucrier and cover, soft-paste 'duck egg' porcelain; standing on a moulded pedestal foot, curved sides to shoulder, upright flared collar; small volute handles on either side with embossed floret disks, and raised anthemion terminal; flat inset cover with entwined dolphins finial; painted in monochrome purple enamel, on one side with a cupid leaning on a cloud, holding a ball and musical pipe, on the other side a cupid sitting on a cloud drawing; the cover painted with a lyre and foliage, and a torch and rose sprig; gilt continuous scroll pattern inside lip and around edge of cover, gilt finial, and gilding to handles; gilt bands to foot, shoulder, and lip.
