Welsh costume petticoat
Petticoat made from red tabby woven soft cotton fabric that has the appearance of wool; constructed from 2 pieces: front and back; black synthetic ribbon trim c.4cm above hem line (same as used for ties on apron); gathered at waist with 3 widths of elastic tape which is fed through stitched channels in the c. 3cm wide turn back; all machine stitched using red thread; inner side seams finished with overlocking; ribbon trim stitched with black thread showing on surface and red thread on reverse; petticoat is currently attached to bedgown with plastic tags (for display purposes).
