Seal impression: York
Reverse. St Peter, patron of the cathedral and city, standing on a bracket, holding with his right hand by their handles two keys across his right shoulder. His left hand holds a primatial cross with a pennant of three streamers. To either side, a facing angel with wings expanded elevating a candlestick bearing a tall candle. On a rounded surface connecting the three brackets, between each angel and the apostle, a double fleur-de-lis.
