Bag
Brown bag belonging to W.W. Vivian, Dinorwig slate quarry.
Made of stiff leather, with a split-handle at the top. The bag is in the style of a ‘Gladstone bag’ (a Gladstone bag is a small portmanteau suitcase built over a rigid frame which could separate into two equal sections). The bag is opened at the top and has a split-handle design. Inside the bag there are 27 small compartments / internal pockets, and 17 storage loops. On the bottom the bag is stamped ‘The Honble W.W. Vivian, Port Dinorwig’, indicating that it belonged to the Honourable Walter Warwick Vivian, Director and General Manager of Dinorwig Quarry between 1880 (circa) and 1902.
