Stock knife
A clog knife used for paring off waste and trimming flat surfaces of wooden soles. It comprises a straight blade on a long metal shaft leading to a short wooden handle. At the end of the blade is a large hook to be attached to a steel ring on the clogmaker's bench. The clogmaker held the wooden sole to be shaped in one hand on the bench and the handle of the knife in the other. Using the knife required both strength in the arm and co-ordination.
