Pot-lid, earthenware, circular shape, the underside of the pot-lid obscured by the frame, convex top; the upperside of the lid decorated with an underglaze polychrome transfer-print of 'Exhibition Buildings 1851' (although this title is not recorded on the lid), showing the Crystal Palace with a large crown of figures in the foreground including figure on horseback and a carriage, the scene enclosed by a circular border of oak leaves and acorns. The pot-lid is cracked across one side.
